[music] The Honorary Title - Cats in Heat

Hmmm more high school drama...not entirely sure what's going on, and I find myself not particularly caring either, so long as everyone comes out with their mental health still relatively intact. Things like this that divide up friends and arouse suspicions and make people who were friends angry at each other sicken me, so I'm going to attempt to distance myself from all of it.

Wow we're all so silly.

Not quite as diseased-feeling today, which is a marvelous marvelous thing, what with Rosh Hashanah and Better Than Ezra concert coming up next week. I would like to take this opportunity to proclaim my love for the fantabulously amazing being that is DAYQUIL.

I...I...kinda like someone. Which is nice. Silly high school infatuation. Almost as bad as the drama, but a bit more enjoyable at least. Don't ask whoooo...it's a SECRET! heeheehee that made me giggle. GIGGLE, I tell you.

Countdown to BtE: 5 DAYS OH MY GOODNESS

Josh: see
Josh: like how that made me cry
Josh: and by cry, i mean giggle
Josh: but the point is still made
me: ...okay, josh

BAT DEVON!

Devon: *shoving stuffing into backpack*
Taco: ...Why are you doing that?
Devon: Because I want my backpack to be fluffy!

Think I might be getting sick, throat hurts and I've been wicked tired. My mom got me vitamin B12 tablets, so I won't get brain damaged from eating less animal products. She said I should maybe take iron pills too. I don't think this being tired shit is from any vitamin deficiency though, I had a blood test just a few weeks ago and I was fine, it's just the same thing that happened last year, maybe that virus never actually went away stupid mono-like viruses...

Today and yesterday I stayed after school and then when I got home, was about to do my homework but then decided to lie down for just a few minutes, and then fell asleep for an hour and a half.

Probably gonna go to bed wicked early tonight, see if the extra sleep helps at all. And I'll actually come home on the normal time bus to get my homework done, I have 2 essays that I should work on tonight, but I don't really have the energy...

24.9.05

filming

So after a few starting bumps, filming my video went pretty well today.
Sydney didn't show up for the first hour, so Joe and John called around and finally found out her phone number, I called, left a message, another hour later she still hadn't called or shown up, I called again, found out she couldn't come and just...never thought to let me know.
So during all this we filmed Joe's stuff and hung around for a little bit wondering what to do, and then Joe called up Sarah and she came over to take Sydney's part. I love you Sarah. You saved this project...since I probably wouldn't have been able to film tomorrow.
So we got pretty much all of it done today, I just need to figure out how to fake some flashing lights. And now I finally get to start editing! WOOOT! I love editing.
ahhh...I'm tired now. Tomorrow I'm helping other Sydney (little second grade Sydney) in hebrew school in the morning, and then I'm helping John with his video at night, and as of now nothing going on in the afternoon so I get to relax for a little bit and...do homework. Yeah...

Sarah: LITHIUM!
Me: ...It's recording.

23.9.05

boxes

Went to bed at 9 last night, so I actually got enough sleep for once. Still tired during school, but not as tired as usual I guess. I had a history test this morning that I wasn't prepared for, since I decided that staying up another 2 hours to cram wasn't going to help me at all, and I didn't do most of the reading or any of the reading guides, but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be, so I think I got a somewhat decent grade.
Went to the synagogue after school and spent another 2 1/2 hours sorting and boxing stuff in the trailor that people have donated for Katrina victims. Anyone want to donate food, water, personal care items, or towels/linens (NEW please...and no sample sizes of anything), bring it to the synagogue. There's a bigass trailor truck thing in the parking lot, you can't miss it. I think Josh will be there tomorrow, don't know what times though. I'd be there as well, but I'm gonna be working for my parents tomorrow morning and then filming my project in the afternoon.

20.9.05

a few brief updates:

[mood]: absolutely fantabulous
[music]: keyboards sounds?

My glasses are broken. So now I have the choice of itchy eyes due to wearing contacts twice as long as I should, or not being able to see.

I GOT TICKETS TO SEE BETTER THAN EZRA ON OCTOBER 5TH. This makes me incredibly happy.

Something cool happened tonight. A friend who hasn't spoken to me for three weeks randomly sent me an IM. And we had a normal conversation. This also makes me incredibly happy.

Devon: everyone's heard about those better than ezra shootings

Martha's Vineyard

It was amazing. We drove up in two cars but then because the ferry was wicked expensive we had to pack all 6 girls and 3 adults and all of our stuff into Mitzi's van. It was...interesting. I lay across the laps of 3 people in the backseat because there wasn't enough room. We were talking about covering me/other people with blankets to hide us so they wouldn't charge us all for the ferry but that never happened. It was cloudy and misty outside but all six of us stood outside at the front of the ferry and it was windy and cold but it was EXHILERATING (Devon's word) and Lyssa took pictures. And then we got to Devon's house in Edgartown and unpacked and ate pizza and then took more pictures (Mindy's plan was for all of us to get hot new pictures for our myspaces) and watched Pretty Woman (cute movie).
Saturday morning I had milk with my cereal for the first time in 2 weeks (forgot to bring soymilk) and we made Katrina Dolls. Then we went and drove around to different places and went shopping. They all made fun of me because of the pink store. Yes. The PINK store. It was scary. They WOULDN'T LEAVE.
Sunday was bright and hot and sunny but we were leaving that day so didn't have time to go to South Beach or anything like that. We went to Vineyard Haven (I think that was it) and there was this Tivali Day street fair (no clue what Tivali day is) and a parade with little kids dressed up in Halloween costumes. I'm not entirely sure what was going on. I bought a purple dress. Yes, me, a dress. It was in this really neat store that had all these amazing skirts and stuff but I needed a new dress for Rosh Hashanah...and I may wear it to Homecoming as well, I decided I'd go this year with Devon and Mindy and other girl scout people.
So then we went and got on the ferry again and we all rode inside this time and there was this absolutely adorable little 2 year old boy who kept coming over and talking to us. He was so cute.
And...then we came home.
We made 29 Katrina Dolls total this weekend...go us.
Still need to get the pictures from Lyssa...I'll hopefully get them and put them online sometime next week-ish.

Devon: One wonders how it got to track...it was your foot, wasn't it.

Devon: When he gets the hairball I die!

Hillary: *counting*...eight...
Me: Nine.
Hillary: Oh...I forgot about you because you were...lying on top of me.

Hillary: It's getting cramps!
Me: No! You do it with your thumbs!

Devon: I thought you were going to flick water at me, but then I realized your hands can't be wet.
Me: ...Wanna bet?
Devon: I love you. I LOVE you.

Me: What are you doing?
Hillary: I'm leaning on your bladder.
Me: Except that's blatantly NOT my bladder.

Devon: You're not a stranger, you can touch me wherever you want.

18.9.05

tired....

Martha's Vineyard was absolutely amazing.

I love girl scouts. So so much.

I'm tired and going to bed now...details and funny comments from the weekend shall come tomorrow...

I really need to get working on actually planning how I'm going to film my video.

15.9.05

"AH! The zipper hurts me!"

[mood]: infatuated...or in love, as the case may be
[music]: none

Leaving for Martha's Vineyard tomorrow. Oh god I can't wait.
Russian skit tomorrow as well...I get to dress up in completely horribly clashing clothes which makes me incredibly happy.
I spent an entire period today trying to line up parts of songs, just testing/figuring out what I'll use for my video project. I'll probably spend an entire period doing the same thing tomorrow.
Book Group meeting after school...YAY! Went with Lyssa and Mindy. I barely went at all last year, because of Pass It On, but I decided that this year it's okay if I skip Pass It On every now and then...because I missed those insane book group meetings.
When I got home, I duct taped my shoe because those grey shoes that I colored all over are completely falling apart now and I refuse to chuck them until I absolutely have to. I love those shoes. I have to color over the duct tape though, it looks kinda hideous.
If the rain spoils this weekend I will be very mad. Actually, with this lovely group of people, I doubt it will be spoiled. We will sit around gossiping and listening to Rent and making Katrina dolls. Kinda like we sat around gossiping and listening to Rent and making bracelets during winter camping last year. And maybe we will dance in the rain. I fully intend to suggest that.
I love Devon. The quote in the title is hers.

14.9.05

yay!

[mood]: good
[music] Silver and Cold is stuck in my head...

DUDE! CHECK IT OUT! YSAG on Katrina Dolls!

woot!

13.9.05

*beating subconscious with a stick*

My subconscious is cruel. A happy dream...in the end, while you're still dreaming, you're "going to bed" and you're thinking "When I wake up, I hope I remember that that wasn't a dream." And then waking up and realizing, yes, yes that was a dream. Loser.

YSAG today after school...we made Katrina Dolls!!! It was absolute utter chaos. We only made about 10 total, but there were only 2 sewing machines going, mine and Jill's. We're doing it again next week. Ahhh it was so much fun though. I love happy chaos like that. There were people crowded around the "cutting tables" and people drawing faces and people hovering over me and Jill to watch their dolls get made and Gabby and her friend putting too much damn stuffing in the dolls but it was okay. If we were working the whole time, we probably would have gotten more made, but it came to the actual "meeting" part of the...meeting...and only Devon and Mindy and few other people were still cutting stuff out. But we probably wouldn't have had time to actually sew many more though, just because there's only so much that 2 people can do. It was great though. Absolutely amazing. We took a group picture on the stage in the beginning, with all the cloth and the dolls that had already been made...Nick Schoen had the one with my name...which I found amusing...and then Arya shouted "Okay everyone back to the chaos!"

11.9.05

look! a fish!

On a break from organizing the garage/storage place right now. Spent about an hour on the garage and 2 hours at uncle bob's so far today. I kept getting the hiccups.
I DROVE! hahahahahaha first time for Sarah behind the wheel of a car. In the Uncle Bob's parking lot, I drove about 10 feet, tweaking out the entire time, and almost crashed into the wall. My mom had to turn the steering wheel.
First morning of hebrew school this morning, I'm in the second grade class helping a girl with cerebral palsey. She's adorable. The kids kept staring at her and I wanted to yell at them. At least 2 of the kids in her class know her from school so they know she's just as smart as any of them, even if she can't walk by herself.
I wanted to go to the Hebron Fair this weekend...but I keep having to work. Stupid garage. meh. The house...tis a neverending series of new projects.

10.9.05

my toe hurts...

Stupid toe. It's getting worse again. It keeps hurting.

Today was pretty good. Went to the book sale this morning. Didn't find any Mercedes Lackey books *sad* but I got a couple Far Side comic books, Chicken Soup For the Teenage Soul, and Pigs in Heaven. OOOOH and this collection of "the best Jewish jokes ever" or something like that. Went from the book sale to the art show on the green, walked around for a bit, got about...6 minutes of footage for Pass It On, don't know how much help that will be, but I didn't have that much time...we had to get back home. So...we came back home and started organizing the garage...will continue doing so tomorrow. Got some more of my clutter from Uncle Bob's (storage place) so my room has even more random knick-knacks now...it makes me happy...and I have 6 or 7 pictures that I have to find places for around my room that don't involved making holes in the wall...this shall be an interesting task. I still need to find out how much an absurdly large piece of corkboard costs.
I made four more Katrina Dolls today. That's...10 total. hahahahaha this is fun. I listen to Rent while making them. So I've had Rent songs playing through my head for the last 2 days. I've listened to the soundtrack maybe...4 times in the last 2 days.
Went to look at some pianos tonight at this music place with my Dad, Mr. Harris, and Ben...they all had to drop off guitars to be fixed. Kinda disappointing...I have to get an electric one because they're less expensive and we'll have to sell it again in 2 years. But...they all sound electric. And I know that's a given. But there's just such a difference between how a studio grand sounds and how an electric sounds. I played parts of that Straylight Run song "Existentialism on Prom Night" while looking at the pianos...two of the people who worked there were like "Oh my god I love that song!" ahhhh it sounds so different on the electric pianos! RAWR.
We went to a diner afterwards. I got spinach pie which, while it was better than the spinach pie at camp, still wasn't all that great.

Ben: I want an angry Jewish waiter. You know? "I think I want a hot dog." "You think? No, you want a hot dog! This is Independence Day, be decisive!"

Ben: I want my friend to direct this play at our school, but we have to get the administration to let us have an open flame on stage, rip a phone out of a wall, and have someone beat a typewriter with a golf club.

9.9.05

woooo dolls

yay I made two more dolls. They're so...cuddly...

So I had a doctor's appointment today. In the last year...I haven't grown AT ALL. GAAAH I thought I got taller over the summer. So, I've grown 0 inches and gained 15 pounds...go figure that one. Not that I'm normally one to worry and obsess over my weight, but my doctor was like "hmm...what's going on here..." so I have to exercise more now...and I guess I'm done growing. Damn it. Well, considering my last doctor said I was going to stop growing at around 14 years and 5' 4", I guess I can't complain too much.

I'm going to start...jump-roping. Because Niki and I were jump-roping in gym class on Thursday. And it was fun.

katrina dolls

I made 4 Katrina dolls before...they are soft and fuzzy and cuddly...and make me smile...you should all make one...and if you're making one...why not make two.

Pictures of my dolls are up on both of those sites...it makes me feel special...

I'm going to go make some more...

KATRINA DOLLS

I'm sure you've all heard of the devastating effects that Hurricane Katrina has had on everybody's lives. Thousands are without homes, food, health care, or hope. We've all been throwing as much money at it as we can, but short of flying down to Lousiana ourselves, is there anything else we can do?

A friend of mine decided to do something about that.

He created Katrina Dolls.

Some of the most unfortunate victims of this natural disaster are children. Left with nothing, and not understanding what is going on, they are experiencing a sense of hopelessness long before they ever should.

We can help.

What is a Katrina Doll, you ask? Well, its quite simple. These are incredibly easy-to-make dolls (designed for children to create) that will be sent to the young victims of Hurricane Katrina.

It's quick, and requires few materials or skill. If you have younger siblings, they can help too. If I could see tens...hundreds...or even thousands of these being shipped out from all over the country it would be an amazing experience.

Do I sound overly optimistic?
I don't think so.
I think we can do it.

Here's the catch, the budget for this project is exactly 0 dollars. So for it to work, any sort of free publicity or word of mouth is key. And even more important is your participation. I've already made three.

All instructions are on the page. If you cannot find the address to mail the dolls to (as the site is still less than a day old, you should now be able to find it on Google, however), either give them to me or I can tell you.

And please, take pictures, we'll put you on the web.

http://www.katrinadolls.org
A bit of sunshine after the storm.

Please at least comment if you think you can help in any way. Donations of fabric would also be appreciated.

!! SECOND BEST WAY YOU CAN HELP !!
As we rely on word of mouth, please, please, PLEASE post this message on your livejournal, myspace, blog, xanga, website, anywhere that you can. Title it "Help A Child In Need" or anything you wish. Tell your friends. Send a letter to Santa Clause. I will personally give you a very heartfelt thanks if I see this posted anywhere. Just please help us get the word out!

mmm...just read the 2 cups of coffee and a mayonaise jar thing on Josh's lj...ahh that made me feel a bit better.

That, and Joe coming up just now and saying "If mom and dad want me or if anyone calls I'll be in the bathroom dying my hair black." He's just so...damn...random with his hair.

And I just remembered how Badger said mayonaise. Mayen-AYZ! Silly Sconnies.

*banging head against wall*

hmm...gonna be the same argument all over again, isn't it?

I was absolutely estactic back in...October, I think it was, last year, when my parents told Joe and I that we're holding off the Arizona move until after I graduate. Yeah...well I'm going to be looking at colleges soon...maybe thinking about early applications for film school...I barely even know what I want to do with my life. Still don't want to leave New England though. When I looked at Brandeis with my aunt, and went into Cambridge, I fell in love with that area...and there's so many good schools around there...my dad keeps talking about schools in California, he keeps pushing UCLA and how it'd be so much fun for me and my mom to take a trip down there to visit cousins...look at some colleges. Somehow I doubt I'll be able to get them to take me on a tour of colleges around Cambridge...or other parts of New England...you know, just for the hell of it, since tonight my dad told me that for me to go to a college here, there'd have to be a compelling reason...like, say, getting a full scholarship. But it doesn't seem like they're going to even let me apply to schools that aren't on the fucking other side of the country from here. I grew up in New England. I still don't want to leave. Does this mean anything to them? It's the same thing all over again.
Damn it...it's my future, isn't it?

Devon quotes for the day

"Well, I hung out with Sarah, which is almost as good as having sex."

"Your boobs look nice today."

"Other people ignore it, but if my crotch itches, I'm damn well going to scratch it!"

"Gay guys don't like boobs!"

...she said that one, rather loudly, just as we were passing two men on the way into Chuckie's. One of them gave her an odd look.

aaaah I have oreos!

6.9.05

YAY!

Guess what? TACO'S BACK!!!!!!
I saw her today and I screamed and hugged her and it was awesome.
She had to do 60 pushups because she got 9 letters in one day. Wow. Crazy army people.

First Midrasha meeting tonight. Yay Jew people...

Went to the library and got some more books. You know me. When I don't have books I go crazy. Of course now my reading of The Green Mile is interrupted...but that's okay.

5.9.05

soo I just put a bunch of pictures online, anyone who hasn't been to the new house yet and wants to see pictures of my room in all its nearly-completed glory, click on the yellow "Sarah's Pictures" link on the sidebar. Random Pictures album.

I used to sit and watch the pouring rain...

[mood]: tired...which brings out the icky moods
[music]: guster, only playing in my head though

Ahh so actually today was pretty fun. My parents had a little get-together with their friends, celebrating the completion of the back porch, and I was allowed to have some people over as well. Kris, John, Jackie, and Devon all came. It was amazingly awesome. We went swimming and then watched Harry Potter 3.

Devon: I'm going to stay friends with you just for the food I get when I'm at your house.

John: You just don't appreciate the fullness of my ass.

John: Do I come across as gay?
Devon and me: Yes.
John: Damn it!

I...I'm tired. And sad. Wistful. I wonder how long I'm going to continue to care that I've lost what felt to me like one of the best friends I've ever had, for all that I knew him maybe 6 months. It's kind of a "What the fuck just happened? Why?" sort of feeling. I feel another screaming rant coming on. So I'll just post this now. I want to go listen to Guster now. Parachute album. Nice music.

Steph keeps forgetting I'm only 16. This amuses me. So so much.

me: yeah the kid who was giving me a ride home had to leave early
Steph: aww
Steph: no car?
me: hmm?
Steph: you don't have a car
me: hon, I don't have a license
Steph: oh
Steph: you're 18
me: I'm...16...
Steph: oh

ahhh people keep thinking I'm old.

Just back from Kris's party. So so fun. Met some new people. Made some new friends. Walked to Down Under video to get Boondock Saints. Went on a trampoline and nearly injured my neck. It was sooooo much fun...

China Blue Rocket...is that not an amazing name? It's her real name, too.

John lives in the same town as my grandparents. That's cool.

HAH I am the essense of brilliance. I have turned white sheets into this pale green color. Because I figured it was okay to wash green sheets and white sheets together. I am amazing.

I'm FINALLY ALMOST DONE with my room. I just need to get curtains, a new cover for my table, and a CD rack. Curtains especially. People driving by my house can probably see into my room. It's kinda creepy.

Meeting tonight. Grace is fucking hilarious. Laughing so hard and so long I can't stop, breath, relax my muscles, or swallow whatever drink happens to be in my mouth at the time, makes me feel so so happy.

"FOAMING AT THE EYES AND MOUTH!"

Lyssa: i'd rather have a picture of your ass than your eyes.

I don't even remember anything else, as I knew would happen. It was just so amazingly hilarious.

Martha's Vineyard in 2 weekends. Holy shit I can't wait.

I love my friends. So so much.

[mood]: wistful
[music]: none

Pass It On today. It was amazing. Just to hang out with everyone. Just laughing and talking and having a good time. And then we hung around outside afterwards, I was waiting for my mom to come and Andrew and Colleen and Niki were going to walk to the library, so I guess they were just waiting to keep me company, which made me feel special. I talked to Colleen. Made me feel better about some things, to a certain extent. Andrew acted adorable. I laughed. (Colleen: Will you STOP IT? Andrew: Hey, I made her laugh!) She tried teaching me to swing dance, salsa, and waltz, each of which were hilarious because I have no grace or sense of balance.
Colleen you are amazing. I love you so much.
Andrew...I still have red teeth marks on my arm. You...bitch. :-)
On the track today, during gym...Leigh and I were walking one direction, a bunch of other kids were walking the other direction...

David: Oh, who's gonna move? I'm the senior, who's gonna move first? Who's gonna-
Me: *turns and slams shoulder into David's chest, keeps walking*

At that moment, I loved myself. Quite a lot.

Nick: I DEFLOWERED SARAH!

Kate: Ah, I have learned not to cross Sarah Schaffer. You will learn that lesson through many a poke.

AJ: Your binder is going to come back as a squirrel and eat you.

Colleen: NOT boys with so greasy hair. [taken out of context, that just sounds funny]

"You, I thought I knew you
You I cannot judge
You, I thought you knew me,
This one laughing quietly
Underneath my breath"
