Went to lunch with my...umm..."youth group" *coughgirlscouttroopcough* today. Somehow we managed to earn the Studio 2B charm "Take Charge"...the one we like to refer to as the "rape charm".
I think we were freaking out the waiter just a little. Mindy read to us from the packet...

Mindy: "Incest is a crime"...
Waiter (Mike): *comes in to refill water glasses* Always a lovely dinnertime conversation topic.
Mindy: Hey, we were talking about dating older men before.

We never finished reading the packet, but we got the charms anyway.

Mindy: What...are these our chastity belts?

They tried to tell us that they weren't chastity belts, they were the Take Charge charms, but the charm was a little purple heart with a keyhole, and it had a little key attached.

 
Hey, I'm leaving for camp tomorrow. That kinda snuck up on me there, good thing I remembered to pack today. Wow...two whole weeks without knowing what's going on in my daily life, how are you freaks gonna survive?
Mom better remember to feed the hermit crabs.

It's nice getting mail at camp, so write to me. (please!) Call and ask my mom for the camp address, I'm a paranoid little freak so I'm not posting it on the internet.

I have recently discovered Pantene conditioner. It makes my hair all not frizzy. w00t!

It takes an absurdly long time to dry dill in an oven.

We now have enough dried dill for the next 10 years.

Joe destroyed the front steps today. It was fun to watch. I took lots of pictures. Now, if you try to go out our front door, you have a six foot drop in front of you. It's rather amusing. Alas, tomorrow, there shall be new front steps.
I finally got the 6 rolls of film that had been sitting on my desk developed yesterday. I was all upset because the first roll from Cape Cod got messed up somehow and was a "blank roll"...so make that 5 rolls of film. Really nice pictures from the second Cape Cod roll, and from Shre's birthday shindig. (w00t black and white film!) Most of the pictures from me using up the deposable camera at the mall came out messed up in one way or another, but there's a really funny one of Joe acting out Dane Cook.

I think Uber Ralph is trying to eat Dex. I had to barricade Dex into a corner of their tank and Uber Ralph keeps trying to climb over the cardboard.  He's kinda freaky.

Went to the high school today to get my schedule changed. I wanted to switch to level 1 Bio (as opposed to AP Bio...I'm not that smart), I got the last available space in the class. I feel so lucky. *w00t!* Also managed to drop Kennel Management for 2nd semester.

I love this schedule. My only complaint is that switching Bio classes means that I have gym 7th period instead of 8th. (Having gym 8th would've been awesome.) But I still love this schedule. w00t for dropping Spanish and taking Euro 2 and Islamic World freshman year. (Lots of electives now!)

Mallow is one weird little crab. Brought him and Uber Ralph home yesterday, I'd had them for only an hour or two and Mallow changed shells. It was kinda freaky, I picked up this shell that he had come in and it was empty. And then there was one of the shells I got in Cape Cod that was moving around. And when I checked on them again today, Mallow had moved back into his old shell. Dex is still intimidated.

Got 2 new hermit crabs from Exotic Superpet. I went to Petco first but the hermit crabs there wouldn't come out of their shells and they all looked like Dex.
The ones at ES were moving around...I got one with a whitish shell and one with a striped shell.
The one with the whitish shell is Mallow. The one with the striped shell is Uber Ralph. Uber Ralph is as big as (or bigger than) Winston was and likes climbing onto the lid of the tank like Winston did. Mallow and Uber Ralph are both all active and hyper. I think poor Dex is intimidated, he won't come out of his shell.

Going to Petco in a bit.
Think maybe I'll get 2 or 3 of them this time.
*sigh*...Ralphie...

It's been a pretty sucky night.
Missed Steph's party to go to this picnic thing with my parents...wasn't as bad as it could have been but I'd rather have gone to the party.
Somehow during the picnic I found out that there's a good chance that I'll be moving earlier than spring next year. We're putting the house on the market next fall...and then moving as soon as it sells.
And...Ralphie's dead. Apparently mold started growing on him before his new exoskeleton was completely formed, and it killed him.

Hey everyone, back from Cape Cod and I'm wondering what the hell happened to blogger...this stupid new blogging format is confusing me. Why must they keep changing stuff?
 
Anyhoo, tons and tons of fun at Cape Cod, hanging out with mom and dad's old college friends. Thankfully, two of these friends had kids so that's mostly what made it fun. Colin and Sean...cool kids...Colin's a surfer hippy.
 
Since there wasn't enough room in the house for everyone, all the kids had to sleep in tents in the yard. (Joe slept in uncle dave's boat.) It was so cool...adults all inside getting drunk so all us kids went outside every night and lit a fire and just hung out making smores and talking until we were too tired to keep our eyes open. Last night was funny, we were hearing thunder and since we decided we didn't want to be sleeping in tents if there was a storm we all grabbed our sleeping bags and stuff and slept on the porch (it was one of those porches with a roof and screen walls). Joe and Sean shared the double air mattress...
 
Joe: Dude...just keep your boxers on, all right? And if I wake up and you're on top of me, I'm gonna kill you.
 
And then me and Alena and Colin all had the single mattresses. There was barely enough room on the porch for all of us, I guess it's a good thing Babs was sleeping in the living room because all of us wouldn't have fit in there comfortably. When we woke up this morning, it was all bright and sunny out and it never rained or anything. As Colin predicted, various adults took pictures of us because they were all awake before we were.
 
Dad: So why did you guys sleep on the porch?
Me: We heard thunder.
Dad: Probably uncle Dave passing gas.
 
Oh, and Ralphie's still alive so I'm happy. : D

Haven't left for Cape Cod yet...at this rate we won't be getting there til sundown. My worst fears have been confirmed...Greg thinks the hermit crabs are a joke. I'm pretty sure he'll still remember to check them though...

It's been a bizarre night. I was on around 6 before and was getting all confused because over various things and when Joe had to get on the computer I went upstairs a little pissed and really confused and really upset...
When I got to my room, I went to check on Ralphie and Dex, and I find a piece of a hermit crab floating in their water dish. Wow. I check Dex, since he's closest, he's fine...then I see Ralphie's shell...there's a really huge hermit crab shell that I have in their tank, Ralphie likes to hide in it, so I see his shell sticking out of the huge shell, and I tip it a little, and he kind of falls halfway out and doesn't move. Naturally...I freak out and start crying. When I lifted up the shell all the way, his legs and claws kind of fell apart into a little pile...
Later, when I decide to take Dex out of the tank, I see Ralphie moving. I freak out all over again and realize that the legs and claws that fell off were his old exoskeleton...he's growing a new one now. Hopefully I didn't disturb him too much by dumping him out of his hiding place and poking him around...

Leaving for Cape Cod tomorrow...if I'd been thinking ahead I would've asked one of ya'll to take Ralphie and Dex for me, but now I shall have to hope that Greg is going to take this seriously...

I think I'm a bit too attached to these hermit crabs.

Examining my ankles for poison ivy rings...fun. I'll probably find some tomorrow. Stupid poison ivy being in the middle of my route to the Harris's compost pile. I put my sneakers in the washing machine to get rid of poison ivy evilness...they are all clean and shiny now. But I got $20...I think that's worth having poison ivy anklets for a couple days.

The sprinklers were on...and what group of 6 teens can resist running through sprinklers? Make that 5...Karen didn't run through the sprinklers, but she took a picture of me. I gave her a hug afterward though, so she still got her shirt wet.

There was sooo much more hilarity, but the walk back to Shre's house from the park wiped me out so I'm going to bed now. I'll blog it later.

Concert last night...Guster, Ben Folds, Rufus Wainwright...it was a bit of a letdown, but still well worth going to.

Guster went on first...they were amazing. Sadly, they didn't play any of my 3 favorite songs...but still amazing. Sam was right, Brian (drummer) does look like a monkey...he's awesome. He is now Joe's hero.

Ben Folds was next, I'd only heard one song of his before the concert (Army) and he played that song, which was really really cool, he had people in the audience make the trumpet sounds. He was also amazing, I really liked "Gracie" and his other songs were cool too.

But Rufus...wow. He sucked. Before he went on, he sang a song with Guster, and then he sang a song with Ben Folds, and he sounded really good in those songs, and I was thinking, "Wow, he's awesome, can't wait til he goes on". And then he started singing his first song, and I was thinking, "Wow. This song needs to end." It made my ears bleed. So did the 2nd song, and the 3rd...Guster and Ben Folds came on to sing the 4th and 5th songs with him, those weren't bad, but the 6th song sucked too, we left during that one.

So, Guster was amazing, Ben Folds was awesome, R.W. was a supreme letdown. He also spoke with a lisp, which we all found very amusing.

I got a cool tour shirt though. I'm going to wear it to Shreya's shindig today.

Alana made blini (sp?) for lunch today...I don't know what you were complaining about Brian, that stuff is awesome. It smells like pancakes and tastes like...blini. Very good with cinnamon.

Leaving for the concert in less than an hour! Gaaaaaaah! *w00t*

I was outside taking pictures just now...saw a little fox in the backyard...so awesome. He was adorable. I used the last 2 pictures I had to take pictures of him...not sure how they'll come out, since it was black and white film and there really wasn't enough light in the backyard. Hope they aren't all blurry. It was amazing how close he came...he was in my next door neighbors' yard and then came over to mine and started coming down the hill. He came as far as the top of the stone wall (about...20 feet away from where I was sitting) before I took the picture. He probably would've come even closer, but he froze when he heard the camera click and then bolted as soon as I stood up.
Sooo adorable...

Helped build a shelf today. Started helping build a second one but then dad said I could go pack stuff for UPS instead and now Joe is still building and I'm not(thankfully...sooo tired...).
Joe with a nailgun is scary. I had to hold the pieces of wood in place while he used the nailgun, and he kept shooting it twice by mistake so the nails were going in the wrong place. I almost got a nail in the hand and then later almost got one in the leg. Between that and the fingernail-on-chalkboard sound of the saw cutting wood, I'm a nervous wreck.
Brian was actually on IM today. He's been in SV so long I'd almost forgotten his existance.
That schlub needs to check his email more often.

A realtor came to our house today...second one in the last week.
This sucks.
Nothing says "you're moving" like having a stranger come and tell you what your house is worth.

Alana told us that tomorrow is Water Day in Russia. It's a goofy little holiday where she says you can "expect to get wet" if you go outside. Everyone runs around with squirt guns and buckets of water throwing water on each other. And it doesn't even have to be someone you know...anyone out on the street is fair game.

Alana: I remember once I watered a policeman...

I say we bring Water Day to America. We don't have enough pointless but fun holidays.

Salmon River is cooler than Cotton Hollow. More places to swim and/or slip around on rocks. After swimming I just lay out on a rock in the middle of the river for a while and attempted to get a tan. Wasn't very successful, going by how I still look like a zombie, but it was very relaxing. I think I fell asleep.

Went to see fireworks yesterday. Pretty cool. We ended up standing behind a group that had at least 8 small children with them, which wasn't cool, every 2 minutes they would shriek "FIREWORKS" when someone else's flash camera went off. Three of the little girls were wearing belly shirts...that disturbed me.

Going to the Salmon River in a little bit...sort of like Cotton Hollow but not. As long as we get to swim, I don't care. It's hot today.

It has come to my attention that in the entire time since I have enabled comments on this blog, not a single person has posted a comment.

Wow, crazy fun times today. Went to the mall with Alana, Joe, and Shreya. The chocolate dip from Auntie Annie’s pretzels is good…especially when eaten with fingers.
I brought a camera with me (remember, disposable cameras are easily concealed in pockets until the opportune moment) and took pictures of everyone.

Shreya: With every picture you take of me, you steal a part of my soul.
Me: You know, no one has ever said that to me before.

Shreya: No! I can’t accept affection from anyone who steals my soul!

While passing “Journeys”, I saw this incredibly kickass pair of Converse All Stars…camo…and on sale for only $20. So, naturally, I shouted something to Joe and Alana and then attempted to drag Shreya back to Journeys with me to buy those kickass converses. Somehow, while doing this, she tried to stop me by grabbing my arm…I’ll leave it at that. (hehe…Shreya…) Despite that, we still went to Journeys and I still bought those kickass converses. They are in my room now.

Then, since it was Shabbat, Shreya came back to my house with us and stayed for dinner…she had difficulty serving herself without making a mess. It was rather hilarious. She almost managed to get some salad without spilling anything…but then she got salad dressing on her fingers.

Shreya: By the way, this is a delicious salad.
Dad: Thank you for noticing.
Shreya: …Thank you for making me eat it.

After dinner, Shreya read my palm. The only part I remember...

Shreya: Okay, count the lines between your love line and that line right there. *pointing*
Me: ...nine.
Shreya: That's the number of serious relationships you'll have before you get married.
Me: *laughs hysterically*
Shreya: I have three.
Me: Hey, one down.
Shreya: *laughs*
Me: Wow...nine...I better get started.
